My main bass is a 1999 Alembic Orion 5 string, it was the second bass I bought. The first one is a 1985 Ibanez Musician 4 string, which I bought in 1997 when I started playing. Nowadays it features a nice Les Claypool autograph by the way. Something I’m rather proud of! The third and last one is a 1994 Piet Visser fretless 4 string. I should definitely play that one more often, shame on me!

Amplification is of course done by Glockenklang. One Heart-Core amplifier drives two Heart-Core speakers, massive sound! Occasionally you can hear my Line6 Bass Pod Pro too, but most of the time my sound is clean pure Glockenklang. But you know how it goes, some songs just require that extra touch and the Bass Pod is perfect for that!

As a commercial side note; you should definitely consider buying your gear at Bass Connection. It’s a great store with devoted people who know and love what they are selling!
Biography
I started playing the bass October 1997, at the age of 23. At first I wanted to just learn how to play this beautiful instrument, and I was for sure not thinking about playing in a band yet. But within months I was asked to form Dusk Till Dawn together with Rory Appeldoorn and to replace Robert “Duck” Rigter temporarily at Chain Reaction.

After nine years of playing melodic metal at Dusk Till Dawn it was time for me to do something different. And completely different it was! I was hired by NederBob, a Dutch popular music party band. Of course nobody took me serious. My Dusk Till Dawn friends laughed at me for deciding to play in a corny pussy band and my new band members did ask me what the hell a metal bass player was thinking in playing with them. But I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it a lot!

Unfortunately 2011, NederBob went on indefinite hiatus, so the search for a new band started. A search which founded me Voom, another popular music party band. This time not limited to Dutch songs, so with a little bit of luck I will regain some respect from my long time friends. Of course that didn’t work. Just as the band unfortunately didn’t work. Amazing musicians and I’ve learned a lot, but besides the great rehearsals not much happened.

Currently I play in a Doe Maar Tribute band and every now and then I try to keep the Boze Meisjes alive.

Of course I did many other small things during the years, providing me the experience I enjoy today. Here’s a complete list of all the things I do and did:
